2 Ways To Style A Shirt Dress For Summer

2 Ways To Style A Shirt Dress

Hi there!!

How have you all been? It’s been a while since I last shared a post with you guys but I promise not to let that happen again. Though there was a lot going on in my life but most of the times it was my procrastinator self. Now that the winter is over and I am out of the hibernation mode😆, I promise you a lot of great stuff coming up on the blog.

When it comes to summer, no one wants to fuss much about dressing up in fancy outfits and comfort is the top priority. If you have ever been to the northern parts of India during this season, you must be aware how hot it gets here making it extremely tough to step out of the air conditioning and comfort of your home.

No matter how much you want to avoid the pricking heat, you cannot stay inside forever, particularly when you are studying or working or just love to hang out. So dressing up in outfits that would keep you cool without compromising on style is the best way to go.

So there are some items of clothing that become irresistible during these hot months because of the comfort they provide, and shirt dresses made out of breathable fabrics kind of tops that list. Not only are they effortless and fuss-free but also can be styled in so many ways to create fresh summer looks.

Now what is a shirt dress? Well, it’s essentially an elongated shirt that solves the purpose of being a dress. Ever since it’s debut in the fashion industry, it has been embraced so well by fashionistas and celebrities around the globe, that it becomes impossible to flip through a fashion magazine without spotting this trend atleast a few times during the summers.

With fashion evolving so quick and new trends coming up everyday, many variations of these dresses have popped up in the market- from long androgynous shirts to feminine boho prints cinched at the waist, from off-shoulder to cold-shoulder, everything is easily available to suit your personal style. And the best part is that these dresses can be styled in so many ways and this gives you the liberty to create versatile looks with a single dress.

You can just wear it loose or with a belt or keep the buttons open to solve the purpose of a shrug or wear it beneath your favourite cropped t-shirt for a sporty look- there are just endless possibilities when it comes to these button down dresses. You can pair these with different footwear and accessories to style them for different occassions, like sneakers or boots for a relaxed outing or stilettos for a more formal look. The more you experiment with these, the more you will realise how indispensable they are for your summer wardrobe.

So in today’s post, I am going to share two looks that I created with this really cool bird-print boho shirt dress from Global Desi. This dress caught my attention the moment I saw it and I fell in love with it’s colour, texture, style and everything else. The cotton fabric of this dress is appropriate for this weather as it’s really breathable and I absolutely adore the slight embroidered detailing with small mirrors on the shoulders.

So for the first look, I wore this dress with tan knee length tie up gladiators, nude sling bag and pink translucent glasses for a brunch look. (I am so obsessed with the translucent aviators these days, that I have hoarded them in almost every colour available). There wasn’t much fuss involved in styling yet the outfit looked really trendy and chic. I curled my hair for a more formal touch that makes the look more feminine and appropriate for a perfect brunch date. Here are some of the pictures from the first look-

For the second look, I kept the styling more casual with a lot of bohemian accessories. One of the best things about shirts is that they can be unbuttoned and worn over t-shirts or dresses for an easy and effortless style. So I wore this dress with buttons open over a white crop top and white denims. I paired the outfit with a layered coin necklace and bohemian silver rings to go with the theme of the dress (now acting as a shrug). I wore Burberry ballerinas with the attire and half-tied my hair for a casual day look. Here are the pictures from the second look-
