How To Wear Denim On Denim Like a Pro

Denim on denim is one trend that has been there in the fashion scene since quite a long time now and doesn’t seem to be going out of style ever. This is one of those classic trends that can rarely go wrong and it’s safe to say “When in doubt, go for denim-on-denim”. The double denim trend not only looks super stylish and fresh but if worn correctly, it can be used to flatter certain parts of your body as well.

This trend gained popularity during the last two years because of bloggers, stylists and celebrities trying out this combination in order to create something new. Since fashion has no rules nowadays, there is an endless array of possibilities in which you can wear this trend.

Though a lot of popular blogs and fashion magazines discouraged wearing the same shade of denim when trying out the double denim look, but recently a lot of fashion icons and celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Diane Kruger and Gwen Stefani were seen rocking top and bottoms in same hue of denim and it can now be said that absolutely no rules apply anymore when it comes to wearing this trend.

Wearing Double Denim To Flatter Your Body Shape-

Since alot of options of denim garments are available in the market, it is easy to find something for every body type. Following are some of the tricks that you can consider while choosing the right denim trend for your body shape-

1. Choose the right shade:

Darker colours give the illusion of a slim body, so choose the darker hue for the part of your body that is heavier. For example, if you have a heavier upper body, go for a shirt or jacket in a dark colour and jeans in a lighter shade to attain a balance in the body shape. And if you have a tendency to gain fat in lower areas of your body, then always opt for darker bottoms.

2. Choose the right fit:

The importance of owning a comfortable pair of denims that fits you perfectly cannot be overlooked. If you have a petite frame, go for skinny styles and for heavier thighs, straight and boot cuts with an apt amount of stretch or boyfriend fit would work best. When choosing a loose bottom, it’s better to go for a fitted top and vice versa.

3. Choosing the right waist:

High waist styles work best for women with long torsos or shorter legs and low waist styles suit women with short torsos and longer legs. Also when wearing high waisted pants, a cropped or tucked in top looks the best.

4. Bold and the booty-full

Women with narrow hips should go for jeans with wide back pockets as it creates an illusion of a bigger hip and women with larger hips should go for jeans with a high waist and ample stretch.

5. Hide the belly fat

To obscure the bulge around your belly area, wear skater skirts with a denim shirt tucked into it or go for skinny jeans with a loose boyfriend shirt.

I hope you guys found these tips useful. I will now share 3 denim on denim looks that I sported on my recent trip to Singapore.

1. Denim co-ords

For this look, I paired a turtle-neck denim crop top with high-waist flared pants from House of Masaba. The pants are super comfortable and have a golden print on one of the legs. This set can be worn for a comfortable day out or a coffee/lunch date with friends. The top and the pants can be paired seperately in so many ways to create fresh looks, which makes this co-ord set a really good buy. I wore transparent perspex heels from Zara with this outfit and golden statement earrings to complete the look.

2. Flared Culottes and Cropped Shirt

For the second look, I paired a printed cropped denim shirt from Nishka Lulla label with flared, striped denim culottes from madison on Peddar. I paired this outfit with white block heel slip on sandals for a casual look.

3. Different shades

I sported this look at the Universal studios in Sentosa. I paired a blue assymetric shirt worn as a jacket with white denim shorts, both from Vero Moda. I paired the outfit with white Gucci sneakers for a casual and comfortable day at the amusement park.

I hope you guys liked these looks. Let me know which one is your favourite. Until next time, take care and keep glittering with style.
